What color is that dress? That question is being asked not only by my friends and family, but throughout America today, and has become a major topic of controversy.
It all started on Tumbler on Thursday (February 26) when a user by the name of Swiked posted the image of the legendary dress along with the caption: “Guys please help me — is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can’t agree and we are [censor] out.”
The dress became an epidemic, spreading across the nation much faster than one would expect. Society has divided it into two categories: Blue and Black or White and Gold. Even celebrities are debating the color of "The Dress".

So which side is correct? The true pictures of the dress have been discovered, and the dress has been revealed to be Blue and Black. There are now many YouTube videos and online explanations of why people are seeing the colors differently, from the brightness your device, or the angle which you are looking from, to the rods and cones in your eyes being a factor.
However, in my opinion the debate frustrates me because I don't see it as either of the color choices. I see the dress as a Brown and a Light Purple/Blue. People are saying that I'm not considering the lighting but it doesn't specify there is special lighting in the picture. In fact I zoomed on parts of the dress to isolate the colors, and I still remain true to my claim.
It also frustrates me how celebrities and society have become concerned about the color of a dress, when there are much bigger problems. If some problems were to achieve as much attention as this dress, they would be resolved and addressed faster than they are right now. This dress serves as an indication of how we as the people of America need to start concern ourselves with the bigger issues, such as poverty and racism, and not the color of a dress.
